In the Studio with…Lucy Payne Jewellery

Lucy is a jewellery designer maker, who studied at UCA Farnham and graduated with a first class degree in Jewellery & Metalwork in 2016. She now designs her own pieces alongside working part-time in a jewellers on Hayling Island. Lucy works from her studio in Fareham on the South Coast of England. She sells her pieces through her Etsy store and at various events and exhibitions.

Here, Lucy tells us about what inspires her and her process:

“I like to produce pieces with a lot of detail including rustic, hammered textures. Following a trip to Morocco and visiting Marrakech I have been influenced by the rich culture, beautiful patterns and materials found within the Souks. Since visiting Thailand and volunteering with rescued Elephants, I like to create a sense of covert awareness within ranges of my work alongside using recycled materials. The granulation within my work is inspired by my love for Balinese Style Jewellery and incorporating colour into pieces through using Enamels. Although the majority of my work is in Silver and Copper, some pieces include gold details. All of my pieces are completely handmade in my workshop at home, from creating different textures to making collets for stones and setting them by hand. This ensures that each piece is completely individual and unique.”

Please email Lucy for enquiries about commissions or questions about her beautiful jewellery. She loves to design and create one of a kind pieces!

Lucy will be exhibiting with us on the 15th and 16th June in Stockbridge.
