Kate Box is a British Knitwear Designer and she calls herself a “yarn purist”. Her top product for working with is wool and her signature style is stripes and contrasting panels with lots of bright colour pops.
Growing up in a very creative family, it was no surprise that Kate attended Winchester School of Art and then on to eventually graduate from The Royal College of Art. A career in London with top designers Orla Keily, Kay Cosserat and Julia Pines was then the next step in her life of design.
After starting a family Kate set up her own knitwear label – Kate Box Knit. Kate hand makes her designs on her original 1970’s Brother knitting machine. Her most favourite place to be is in her studio with BBC Radio 4 on in the background and a fresh pot of coffee on the go!
Kate loves being an independent designer as it allows her to balance work and family life. She is also a Trustee of The Kay Cosserat Bursary Scholarship which is awarded to a final year Royal College of Art Student every year. You can see more of Kate’s beautiful designs at www.kate-box.co.uk
